IKIGAI - Japanese Theory of Happiness
Ikigai Pottery is a unique name for a new business and artist in Northfield, MN. Ikigai is a Japanese concept referring to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. This is Parker Gamino's dream of becoming a potter and wood carver.
As you can see in the photos below, Parker has discovered his passion in functional art. With working with different types of clay and wood, to various oils and coatings, and temperatures for the kiln, Parker is creating beautiful bowls, cups, saucers, plates and so much more.
Gamino debuted his pottery at the 2023 Cannon River Clay Tour. He was one of three Emerging Artists that were featured. Parker is a member of the Cannon Valley Makers in Dundas, MN.
The Cannon Valley Makerspace is a thriving “third space” where members have access to thousands of tools and can connect with other creative people in a meaningful way. There are woodworkers, teachers, techies, and entrepreneurs. While we come from different backgrounds, we share the common bonds of making and creating.
Parker is planning on being at the Community Market Fair on Saturday, March 29th, in the Dundas Dome, Dundas, MN. Come and check out his art work and meet the artist.
